I AM WHAT GODíS WORD SAYS I AM!
Romans 8:12-8:16

We are faced with many battles in our walk of faith in life. We can face many doubts in life. The devil will put doubts in our minds and will use people to do the same. What can we do? To overcome and have victory in our Christian walk we need to digest the Word and promises of God. When you see someone walking by faith and walking in the spirit you can be sure they are walking in the Word. In this outline we lay out some of the wonderful things God says we are. Praise the Lord!

I. I AM - A child of God!
Romans 8:12-16 (KJV) 12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. 13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. 14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. 15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. 16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

II. I AM - Forgiven!
- Colossians 1:13-14 (KJV) 13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: 14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
  A. Saved by Grace through Faith
Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
    a. God does not forget the sinner; he forgets the sin.
    b. God forgives our sins, buries them in the sea of forgetfulness, and puts up a sign: "No fishing."
  B. Justified.
  - Romans 5:1 (KJV) Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
    a. God does not justify us because we are worthy, but by justifying us makes us worthy. Thomas Watson
    b. Justification means "just-as-if-I-never-sinned."
    c. The doctrine of justification is the foundation that supports all of the other benefits we receive from Christ. Erwin W. Lutzer
  C. Sanctified
  - 1 Corinthians 6:11 (KJV) And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.
    a. After sanctification, it is difficult to state what your aim in life is because God has taken you up into his purposes. Oswald Chambers
    b. Sanctification is not something our Lord does in me; sanctification is himself in me.
Sanctification means . . . a life of discipline such as nine out of every ten of us will have nothing to do with. The test of sanctification is not our talk about holiness and singing pious hymns; but what are we like where no one sees us . . . with those who know us best? Oswald Chambers (1874-1917)
  D. A new Creature.
  - 2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV) Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
  E. A son of God.
  - Romans 8:15 (KJV) For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
  F. Led by the Spirit of God
  - Romans 8:14 (KJV) For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
  G. A partaker of His Divine Nature.
  - 2 Peter 1:4 (KJV) Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

III. I AM - Redeemed from the curse of the law
- Galatians 3:13 (KJV) Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
  A. Redeemed from the hand of my enemy.
  -Psalms 107:2 (KJV) Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy;
    a. An understanding of redemption is not necessary to salvation any more than an understanding of life is necessary before we can be born into it. Oswald Chambers
  B. Delivered from the powers of darkness
  - Col. 1:13 (KJV) Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: 1:13)

IV. I AM - The Righteousness of God in Christ.
- 2 Corinthians 5:21 (KJV) For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
  A. An heir of God and a joint heir with Jesus.
  - Romans 8:17 (KJV) And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
  B. An heir to the blessings of Abraham.
Galatians 3:13 (KJV) Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
  C. An heir of eternal life.
  - 1 John 5:11 (KJV) And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
  D. An imitator of Jesus.
  - Eph.5: 1) A labourer together with God Romans 8:15 (KJV) For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
  E. The light of the world.
  - Matthew 5:15 (KJV) Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

V. I AM - Blessed with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places.
- Ephesians 1:3 (KJV) Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:
  A. Blessed coming in and blessed going out.
  - Deuteronomy 28:6 (KJV) Blessed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and blessed shalt thou be when thou goest out.
  B. Having all my needs met by Jesus.
  - Philippians 4:20 (KJV) Now unto God and our Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
  C. Healed by His stripes.
  - 1 Peter 2:24 (KJV) Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

VI. I AM - Strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.
- Ephesians 6:11 (KJV) Put on the whole armour of God that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
  A. Above only and not beneath.
  - Deut.28: 13) More than a conqueror Romans 8:38 (KJV) For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
  B. An overcomer by the blood of the Lamb and the word of my testimony.
  - Revelation 12:11 (KJV) And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
  C. Doing all things through Christ who strengthens me.
  - Philippians 4:14 (KJV) Notwithstanding ye have well done, that ye did communicate with my affliction.
  D. Kept in safety wherever I go.
  - Psalms 91:11 (KJV) For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.

VII. I AM - Not moved by what I see.
- 2 Corinthians 4:18 (KJV) While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.
  A. Walking by faith and not by sight.
  - 2 Corinthians 5:8 (KJV) We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
  B. Casting all my cares on Jesus.
  - 1 Peter 5:7 (KJV) Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

VIII. I AM - Observing and doing the Lordís commandments.
- Deuteronomy 28:12-13 (KJV) 12 The LORD shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow. 13 And the LORD shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the LORD thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them:
  A. Exercising my authority in Christ over the enemy.
  - Luke 10:19 (KJV) Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
  B. Establishing Godís Word here on earth.
  - 1 John 4:4 (KJV) Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
  C. Daily overcoming the Devil.
  - 1 John 4:4 (KJV) Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
  D. Casting down vain imaginations.
  - 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 (KJV) 4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) 5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
  E. Bringing every thought into captivity.
  - 2 Corinthians 10:5 (KJV) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
  F. Being transformed by renewing my mind.
  - Romans 12:1-2 (KJV) 1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
  G. Blessed of the Lord at all times and am continually praising Him with my mouth.
  - Psalms 34:1 (KJV) I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.

The cross of Jesus Christ and his baptism express the same thing. Our Lord was not a martyr; he was not merely a good man; he was God Incarnate. He came down to the lowest reach of creation in order to bring back the whole human race to God, and in order to do this he must take upon him, as representative man, the whole massed sin of the race. Oswald Chambers
